When looking for a laptop for gaming, random access memory or RAM as it is commonly called is very important.  This makes reference to how many programs you can have running on your laptop without the whole process slowing down.  A 512MB is what serious gamers should be looking for and this will provide sufficient memory to be able to run the required graphics.  Basically the more RAM you have the better it will be for gaming.

Several of today’s laptops are equipped with what is known as dedicated video RAM (VRAM). This is memory and normally comes with a graphics card with its own memory in MB. It is usually 32mb, 64mb and 128mb and more often than not this only handles visuals and graphics. This Ram is used by video adapters within the laptop and is extremely important and helpful for the purpose of 3D gaming.  If money is no object then buy a laptop with the highest VRAM card you can find pink laptops.

Crashing or freezing of the computer in the middle of a game is so frustrating so try to choose a laptop with a lot of CPU speed as this is much better for gaming.  The processor determines how your computer works by acting as its brain and the speed is represented in gigahertz (GHz).   The Intel Core 2 is probably the best on the market today.  There are all sorts of different types and brands of processors but as far as laptop gaming is concerned you should be looking for  a minimum speed of 2.4GHz

SATA, or Serial Advanced Technology Architecture is probably the most suitable hard drive to choose.  It uses less power than nearly all other hard drives; it isn’t limited to a specific clock speed and is a clear favorite amongst laptop users. The hard drive speed for a gaming laptop should be the highest and the best at 7200 rpm.

Another important feature of the gaming laptop is the screen.  For example, trying to play a guitar on a tiny screen will not only affect your eyesight but it will ruin the game too.  The screen needs to be at least 17 inches wide to deliver the best game experience.   With so many display resolution options many people suggest WUXGA; standing for Wide screen Ultra extended Graphics Array which offers a display resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels (2,304,000 pixels) with a 16: 10 screen aspect ratio.  Taking all this into account the Dell XPSM1730 is more than likely the best overall laptop for gaming
